FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2024–2025

Overview:

The FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2024–25 is offering Master of Science degree courses taught in English. The programme aims to support students from eligible countries to pursue studies in Environmental Engineering, Crop Production Engineering, and Horticultural Engineering at renowned Hungarian universities.

Offered Courses:

  • Master in Environmental Engineering – Sopron University, Sopron
  • Master in Crop Production Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő
  • Master in Horticultural Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Buda Campus, Budapest

Conditions:

  • Courses are contingent upon reaching the minimum required number of students.
  • The scholarship includes coverage for application and tuition fees, basic books and notes, dormitory accommodation, subsistence costs, and health insurance. These expenses are fully funded by the Hungarian Government under the 2007 Agreement between FAO and Hungary.
  • Family members of students are not covered by this scholarship programme.

Residents (who must be nationals) of the following countries are eligible to apply for the Scholarship Programme: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo ( References to Kosovo shall be understood to be in the context of Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999)), Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Application and Selection Process:

  • The selection process comprises two phases.
  • Phase 1 involves pre-screening of candidates by FAO, submission of applications to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, and further forwarding to the chosen universities by applicants. Complete dossiers are required for consideration.
  • Phase 2 may include English proficiency tests and additional selection procedures conducted by the universities. Successful candidates will be notified by the Ministry.
  • Selection criteria include citizenship, academic performance, English proficiency, motivation, health status, and age preference for candidates under 30.
