British Council Scholarships for Master's Programs at Queen Mary University 2024



The British Council, in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London, is pleased to announce the availability of five fully funded scholarships for Women in STEM for the academic year 2024/25. These scholarships aim to address the under representation of women in STEM fields by providing opportunities for talented individuals from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to pursue eligible one-year Master's programs.

Award Details:

  • Level: Master's
  • Course: Any eligible one-year Master's program (details provided below)
  • Country: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
  • Value: The scholarship covers full overseas tuition fees, a monthly maintenance allowance, and assistance towards travel, visa, and initial expenses.
  • Number of Awards: 5

  • Cancer and Therapeutics MSc
  • Cancer Genomics and Data Science MSc
  • Clinical Drug Development MSc
  • Healthcare Research Methods MSc
  • Biomedical Science (Medical Microbiology) MSc
  • Neuroscience MSc

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  • Identify as a woman.
  • Hold a passport and be a permanent resident of one of the specified countries.
  • Meet the entry requirements for their chosen program, including academic credentials and English proficiency.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree at the time of applying.
  • Demonstrate a need for financial support.
  • Not have previously pursued higher education in the UK or resided in the UK recently.
  • Commit to returning to their home country for a minimum of two years after completing the scholarship.

  • Additionally, applicants should:

  • Have relevant work experience or a demonstrated interest in their chosen field.
  • Show a commitment to contributing to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement in their home country post-graduation.
  • Exhibit a plan and enthusiasm for involving other women and girls in STEM initiatives within their home country.

Application Process:

Applications for the 2024-25 academic year are currently open. Candidates must apply for their chosen eligible Master's program at Queen Mary University through the online portal, indicating their interest in the scholarship. Additionally, applicants must complete and upload the QMUL Mandatory Application Form to their application portal before the deadline to be considered for the scholarship.

Selection Process:

Final selection of scholars will be made by the British Council. Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain contact with the British Council and participate in activities as ambassadors for the UK and the Women in STEM scholarship program, both during and after their studies in the UK. Full terms and conditions will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
