The NUS Scholarships stand as prestigious awards bestowed upon high-caliber individuals who exhibit exceptional academic achievements, possess commendable co-curricular activity records, and demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities. NUS Scholars are anticipated to make substantial contributions to the NUS community during their tenure, evolving into dynamic global leaders capable of effecting positive societal change upon graduation.
There are two tiers of NUS Scholarships available for prospective students:
- NUS Global Merit Scholarship
- NUS Merit Scholarship
- Interested students should complete a unified scholarship application to NUS, encompassing consideration for both tiers of the NUS Scholarships, as well as the NUS Sports Scholarship and the NUS Performing & Visual Arts Scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria for NUS Merit Scholarships
Applicants must:
- Be Singapore Citizens.
- Possess strong leadership qualities and potential.
- Demonstrate a noteworthy co-curricular activities record.
- Hold an outstanding Singapore-Cambridge GCE A Level, local polytechnic diploma, International Baccalaureate diploma, NUS High School diploma, or equivalent qualifications.
- Be applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree program at NUS, excluding Dentistry, Medicine, and Music.
Scholarship Benefits
- Tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant subsidy).
- S$6,000 annual living allowance.
- S$2,000 one-time computer allowance upon enrollment.
- S$4,375 annual accommodation allowance if staying in Halls, S$4,585 in Ridge View Residential College, Houses, or Residences, S$4,760 in University Town Residential Colleges, and $6,020 in NUSC West Wing.
- S$7,500 Student Exchange Programme/NUS Overseas Colleges allowance per semester for non-Asian countries and Japan, and S$5,000 per semester for other Asian countries, up to a maximum of 2 claims.
- Guaranteed offer of a 1-semester Student Exchange Programme (SEP) with one of NUS’s overseas partner universities.
- Priority for on-campus accommodation for the first two years of undergraduate studies.
- Priority for Residential College Programmes (University Town College Programme and Ridge View Residential College Programme).
- Bond-free scholarship.
Terms & Conditions
- The NUS Global Merit Scholarship is for a full-time undergraduate program at NUS, offered to the scholar at the time of the scholarship offer and is tenable for the normal candidature period.
- Recipients may not concurrently hold any other scholarship without prior approval.
- The scholarship is monitored and renewed every semester based on maintaining a GPA of at least 4.0 and good conduct.
- Early withdrawal may result in repayment of disbursed scholarship monies.
Application & Shortlisting Process
- Scholarship applications follow the submission of admission applications to NUS.
- Applicants submit a referee report online separately.
- Assessments include the strength of applications and performance in scholarship selection interviews.
- Selection interviews for Law program applicants may differ.
- Shortlisted applicants are notified, and interviews are conducted from late-March onwards.
- Scholarship outcomes are communicated by late-May.
