The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship created to fill any financial gaps left after an eligible applicant has exhausted all federal and state educational grants and scholarships that are available to them.
Target group:
Children of American service members who passed away while on duty on or following September 11, 2001.
Children of post-9/11 veterans who have received a combined Department of Veterans Affairs disability rating of at least 50% are also eligible.
The America LegacyScholarship Benefits :
For undergraduate or graduate college, each need-based scholarship offers up to $20,000 for children of the deceased and up to $5,000 for children of the disabled. Recipients may submit an application for up to six additional annual awards.
Eligibility Requirements for America Legacy Scholarship 2023 :
children of soldiers who died after 9/11
Children of federalized members of the United States military, National Guard, and military reserves who passed away while serving on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, as defined by the United States Armed Services, or children who were legally adopted, children of a spouse from a previous marriage, or dependent children as defined by the United States Armed Services.

An accounting of all costs associated with pursuing an education, such as but not limited to tuition, fees, books, programme costs, meal plans, housing, and transportation
High school senior or recent high school graduate accepted into or enrolled in an accredited higher education institution in the United States.

Children of federalized members of the United States military, National Guard, and military reservists who were injured while performing their duties on or after September 11, 2001 and who have been given a Department of Veteran Affairs disability rating of 50% or higher. These children may be biological, legally adopted, or the children of a spouse from a previous marriage. They may also be dependent children as defined by the United States Armed Services.
