The Indonesian government offers the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, often known as the KNB Scholarship, as financial aid to potential international students from developing nations who wish to pursue a master's degree at one of Indonesia's universities. The scholarship was created during the NAM countries' 10th Conference of Heads of State, which took place from September 1–6, 1992. The next year, the Indonesian government started extending the scholarship to prospective students from NAM member nations.

KEMITRAAN NEGARA BERKEMBANG SCHOLARSHIP (Indonesia) Programme goals

DURATION AND COVERAGE OF SCHOLARSHIPS
The KNB Scholarship provides for:
1. Upon arriving in Indonesia, prospective students will get a settlement payment of IDR 1,500,000;
2. The new students will only get a monthly living allowance and book allowance while enrolled in the Indonesian language course and preparatory programmes;
3. KNB students will receive a monthly stipend for their academic programme, which will include a living allowance as well as a research and book stipend;
4. A health insurance with a monthly premium cap of IDR 400,000 (In the event that the cost of medical services is greater than what the health insurance will pay for, the student is responsible for the discrepancy);
5. A round-trip international flight (in economy class) from the student's home country's airport to Indonesia, as well as local transportation to the host university;
6. As shown below, the scholarship's term is only associated with that of the academic programme:
- An intensive 12-month master's preparation programme in Indonesian
- Phd Program 36 Months Maximum (6 semesters)
- Master Program 24 Months Maximum (4 semesters)
- Bachelor's Program, 48 Months Maximum (8 semesters)
7. Please be aware that the KNB Scholarship is only intended to cover the fees of KNB students. No allowance is made for dependents. It is not advised for KNB students to travel with dependents in Indonesia. Dependants are not supported financially or spiritually by the KNB Scholarship, and neither are their visa requests or travel arrangements approved.
* Take note that other costs not listed above will be regarded as personal expenses and paid for by the students.
DOCTORATE DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1. A maximum age of 40 is required to apply for the scholarship.
2. Possess a master's degree (please upload an English-language scan of your degree certificate). Please be informed that applicants with doctoral degrees are not eligible.
3. Obtain a letter of recommendation from the prospective research supervisor at one of the universities that is a KNB Scholarship partner.
4. Provide a statement of purpose that at the very least outlines the students' goals for their studies, the reasons they chose to study in Indonesia, the direction their chosen research will take them, and their intentions for the future of their academic careers (dissertation proposal).
5. Have a TOEFL or IELTS score of 90 TOEFL IBT or 7.0 IELTS (or other recognised English Proficiency Test) or equivalent (the certificate must have been received within the last two years).
6. Present the reference letter from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General in order to apply for the KNB scholarship.
7. Include a letter of recommendation from the employer or immediate supervisor for the KNB Scholarship application.
8. Citizenship proof (Official Passport or Personal ID).
9. Include a recommendation letter from a prior university.
10. Fill out the online application at knb.kemdikbud.go.id.
MASTER DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1. A maximum age of 35 is required to apply for the scholarship.
2. Possess a bachelor's degree (please upload a scanned copy of your diploma and your English academic transcripts). Please be aware that holders of master's degrees are not eligible to apply for the scholarship for master's degrees.
3. Have at least an 80 on the IBT TOEFL, a 6.0 on the IELTS, or a 700 on the TOEIC (the certificatemust beobtainedwithin the last2 Years).
4. Submit a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or General Consulate in order to apply for the KNB scholarship.
5. Submit a letter of recommendation from your employer or immediate supervisor to apply for the KNB scholarship.
6. Include a letter of academic recommendation from your prior schools.
7. Provide citizenship proof (Official Passport or Personal ID).
8.Fill out the online application at knb.kemdikbud.go.id.
BACHELOR DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1. The maximum age to apply is 25 years old.
2. Possess a High School education (please upload a scanned copy of your certificate and your academic records in English). Please be aware that students who have earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
3. Have the following English Proficiency Test score: 80 IBT TOEFL, 6.0 IELTS, and 700 TOEIC (the certificate must have been received within the last two years).
4. Submit a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or General Consulate in order to apply for the KNB scholarship.
5. Submit a letter of recommendation from your employer or immediate supervisor to apply for the KNB scholarship.
6. Provide a letter of academic recommendation from previous institutions.

How to Apply KEMITRAAN NEGARA BERKEMBANG SCHOLARSHIP (Indonesia) Programme

Application Methods
1. Get the KNB Scholarship Invitation Letter by downloading it;
2. To obtain a recommendation letter, provide the invitation letter, passport, academic certificates, and academic transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate;
3. Submit your online application in its entirety;

5. The KNB Scholarship Website will broadcast the results of the selection process online, and the Indonesian Embassy's publication network will make a formal announcement;
Please pay great attention to the following Important information while you complete your application:
1. We firmly advise you to gather as much information as you can about the institutions and the study programme you want to enrol in. Please be aware that it is strictly forbidden to switch universities or study programmes once you have been admitted.
2. The Indonesian Embassy's endorsement letter is required.
The Indonesian Embassy will undertake the relevant background and/or security checks before issuing the recommendation letter. You must receive the letter from any Indonesian Embassy recognised by your nation if there is no official Indonesian representative in your nation.
3. All essential documents must be written in English or have an official English translation.
4. Participants from English-speaking nations are not always exempt from the necessity to submit written documentation of their English language skills.
5. The universities will carry out the hiring procedure, which should incorporate (if necessary) an online interview with prospective employees.
